This city has a temperate climate, very pleasant, right now we are in rainy season unlike other places the rain is not constant at some times of the day the sun rises.

The public transport reaches almost the entire city, there are very few places where transportation does not arrive, including remote places, the other days we had the opportunity to see several natural and tourist places in the city, later I will show each one of these landscapes.

The public transport has a price of 1.90 bs per route, that is, while one does not get off the bus costs 1.90 bs, the equivalent in dollars to almost 0.30 ctvs of dollar.

The highlight that stands out in this city is the Christ of Concord, which is located on a hill where you can not build, I had the opportunity to visit this monument that is really big, even for a ticket of 5 bs you can access the Inside the statue, the statue has several holes where you can see the city of Cochabamba.

Cochabamba is a city in full development, many streets have new buildings or are in full construction, the buildings do not exceed 15 stories high. To all the surroundings you can see hills that surround this city, it has a very nice view where you look, towards the west side of the city you can see a monumental mountain that receives the name of Pico Tunari, they tell me that because of the winter the summit of this mountain is covered with snow, in the city snow does not fall and the minimum temperatures do not exceed – 4 degrees centigrade or 28 farenheight, as for the heat the maximum temperatures are 32 degrees centigrade or the equivalent of 90 degrees farenheight , I must emphasize that these temperatures are only maintained for a few hours either at dawn the coldest and at noon the hottest, the rest of the day is around 23 degrees Celsius or 70 farenheight.

Within the city there are several museums and old houses that belonged to some president or someone important in the city, most are patrimonies for what they are protected.

The city of Cochabamba is divided into 4 parts but the most important are the South Zone and the North Zone, both divided by the Rocha River, which practically crosses the city from east to west, now the river has a lot of water but they indicate that normally the river is almost dry, its waters are cloudy and along the river we can see trees that give a very attractive touch to this river.

The Tunari Peak is the highest point of the city located at 5030 meters above sea level, it is necessary to arrive on foot as the transport leaves you far from the point called Pico Del Cóndor, now because it is rainy season there was not much visibility but they indicate that in good conditions you can see even the famous Illimani located in the neighboring city La Paz, in the walking tour you can see 2 lakes that have an attractive landscape to look at, also because of the conditions it is a natural habitat for Llamas. The tour filled us a little more than 8 hours in total considering that we ate and was overwhelmed with the view that there was in that mountain.

After this adventure we went to Pairumani, a city that is located west of the city of Cochabamba, it is very famous for the cycling that people do in this place, Pairumani has many farms, the producers of these farms bring milk and cheese to the city.

The visit in pairumani was short since the place is small nevertheless it has some very picturesque and attractive landscapes, we return to the path where the crossing began today as we are going to a waterfall in Tiquipaya, a municipality of Cochabamba, a place with a lot of vegetation, the transport arrives to the road to Apote, another district of this city, from the road the path starts on foot, we have a few hours of light and I want to see this attractiveness so we accelerate the pace, like 20 minutes walk we arrived at the place, a magical place hidden between roads and houses, the images that I put below say it all. The icy waters of the waterfalls do not make it possible to get into this place, so we only take pictures.

Finishing this pass is 7 o’clock at night, the light is not in our favor, we have to return to our accommodation to take strength again, but not before tasting a delicious Sillpancho a typical dish of this city. Our tours start at 6 am to take advantage of the sun throughout our journey.

Today we begin our tour with the Alalay lagoon located on the southeast side of the city, it is a lagoon with many plants, ducks and also indicate that flamencos arrive, I could not see any, very close to there is the “Lincoln Tunel “of the city, is a tunnel with about 300 meters or 900 feet long, passing the tunnel you can see the northern part of the city of Cochabamba plus we now see the Cristo de la Concordia from behind, before in the lagoon I saw it in front. The road we took goes to Sacaba another municipality in the city of Cochabamba.

These are the attractions within the city, today we ate a Pique Macho lunch and breakfast Salteñas, both typical of Cochabamba and Bolivia, then I will discuss my experience with food.

I had the pleasure of knowing two towns plus one of them called Totora, located a little over 4 hours from the city, a colonial town, it has many old houses, I will tell the history of this place in another post otherwise we will extend too much in This, another small town that I met is Toro Toro, located a little over 3 hours from the city, is a place that transports you to the past, parks, tunnels, dinosaur footprints, etc. A magical place, rustic and with a lot of history. Well now come the meals of this city, my favorite part.




SILLPANCHO: A combination of rice, potato, egg, meat and onion and tomato salad, very nice, people often eat a lot of “llajua” a spicy tomato and locoto, this is the richest dish I tried, I think prepare it Very often, I’ll go back home.

PIQUE MACHO: This is a kind of fast dish, it takes sausage, meat, potatoes, tomatoes and onions, all cut into squares and cooked in the pan, a very nice dish, some places make a juice for beer-based food.

SOPA DE MANI: Basically it is raw peanuts, ground and cooked for a long time, they add potatoes and meat in pieces, it is a very nice meal especially for the cold weather.

HUMINTAS: The humintas is a kind of tamal made with corn and cheese, they make it to the pot or to the oven, I liked the pot more, they have a perfect combination of ingredients to create a delicacy for our palate, they use it for dinner time.

In conclusion Cochabamba is a city that can not miss in its travel plans, find incredible places and meals too, Cochabamba is characterized for being a city where people eat a lot and very rich.

My tour of the city of Bolivia is close to finishing, but not before passing through the Oruro Carnival and the Salar de Uyuni.
